Dominican Republic

For our honeymoon, we spent a week in the DR at the Sunscape resort. It was so awesome! It was an all inclusive resort that we would highly recommend to anyone who is planning a trip to the DR! The resort was immaculate, the rooms were big and so nice, and the food was delicious! I was a little worried about the food, but we ate at several of the restaurants, and when that didn't fill us up we went to the buffet that seriously was amazing for a 3rd world country!

We spent a week lounging around, looking at this! Beautiful! And the water was so warm and fun to play in!

They had a fruit stand set up on the beach, and they'd cut up fresh pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe and papya. Yummy Yummy!

These are two of the restaurants we ate at..The Oceana, which is right on the beach, and The Jungle, which really was in the trees. Very cool! The portion size wasn't the biggest...especially for Greg. But, don't worry! If you're still hungry just go on over to the buffet where they had everything!! We spent a lot of time eating, but amazingly I didn't gain 10 pounds!

One day, we took a van ride into the city of LaRomana to see some of the country. There is definately a lot of poverty here. As we were driving, we saw lots of people just sitting around, which we found interesting. What do these people do to survive here? The downtown city center had a little park thing, and we had a native come and take us on a tour of the city. He walked us around the streets and showed us the different shops where they make jewelry and cigars. It was fun to see the real city...which was a very different setting than our resort. We both are very grateful to live where we do, and even though we have struggles in our lives, I personally would take my trials any day over having to live in that country! We were surprised at how much art is here in this country. In Mexico, there seemed to be smaller souveniers, but here just about every store we went into was 80% art work.

Just some more random pictures. Two of the nights we were there they had the dinner out by the pool and another night on the beach. They set up tons of tables and chairs and decorated them with bright table cloths. That was fun!

We have to say that we think our honeymoon was the best! We loved the DR and would definately go back...so if anyone is planning a trip let us know!
